And you must have enjoyed fabulous video tutorial by my mixed media expert teammate Jaya, if not pls watch it here.

Today its my turn, to post a inspiration project with washi tape. and I have come up with  'Memories Box'

Few ideas - how you can use washi tapes in your craft....

• Use creatively on your cards
• Make book marks
• Apply washi tapes on Gift bags/ envelopes
• Decorate your journals/ Memory books
• Make embellishments - Banners, small flags, cloth pins decoration, or on binder pins
• Recycle jars, tins with just applying different varieties of washi tapes
• Can use them on tea light
• Make personalized gift sets

Let's move on to my project

I adhered  3-4 washi tapes on my white box. Washi tapes are non - permanent adhesives, and to make it permanent I coated the box with Mod podge. I love texture..love!  I created it with crafters workshop stencil and Wendy Vecchi embossing paste. I colored the textured designs with Gelatos. I applied pink color at the edges with Prima chalk Edgers.

Next I worked with this super gorgeous paper pad from Kaisercraft- Confetti   All papers in this collection are fascinating. I cut them to size required with my We are Memory Trim and score board. I made some tags too. I distressed edges with Comfort distressing tool and created layers with them by attaching foam tabs underneath.

I decorated the inside box flap with  paper layers, Prima resin clock and flowers.

2. Twist- Incorporate ATLEAST one  geometric shape in your project. It can be anything a circle, rectangle or square. The shape/outline  of your creation will not be considered whatever it is.

Use ATLEAST one ready made embellishment in your product. It can be anything like resin embellishment, Chipboard pieces, metal embellishments or just flowers. Whatever you use, it has to be 'ready made'

3.Anything goes for this challenge. You can create a card, layout, altered item or whatever you wish to!

4. The linkup for this challenge will remain open till 15th September 2014, 11:55 IST so get in your entries latest by then.

Mixed Media Canvas

Shilpa here today with Mixed Media Canvas,

which is inspired by A Sketch given by Jaya for 

Lulupu Challenge # 32 

I liked the sketch so much, that I used it as it is and tried to bring small details on my canvas.

To divide the canvas in two parts, which you can see in a sketch, I used two different stencils to create the texture.  Upper part has done with Crafters workshop Mini Spinning Tops stencil and lower part with Memory box Rhapsody stencil, I love this design. I've used Shabby shutters and Squeezed Lemonade distress paints to bring the color on canvas.

I've also done texture stamping in the background with Peeled paint distress ink, Cofee Archival ink, Prima Square stiches stamp, text stamp and tiny circle stamp.

Lulupu store has these wonderful Wood Veneer Journal Cards from Studio Calico, its use is versatile. I used it as a center piece. I brought texture and color on it to match with background. Ohh, yes and the Prima junkyard light bulb, isn't it gorgeous? I made it my flower vase. And the main attraction is the dimensional Pink Flower stickers from Ek Success.

Dry Embossing with Stencils - A tutorial

Kripa here, with my take on Lulupu Challenge #31 - Movie Inspiration. A quick recap of the challenge this fortnight

Qualification Guidelines

1. Only Cards and Layouts are allowed

2. Must use embossing folders or dry embossing or 

just score your card/LO using a bone folder or scorpal  or any embossing tool.

3. Kindly mention how you got inspired by the movie

4. Above all just have fun.. ;)

Do you remember the first dry embossing you did...... way back in school? Placing a Rs.1 coin under a sheet of paper, rubbing the top of the paper with a pencil and then grinning away when like magic the impression of the emblem appeared on the paper!

Well, when I saw the criteria for the challenge 'Dry Embossing', this was the first thing that popped into my head. So, instead of using an embossing folder, I used stencils to emboss - just like school days :) The added advantage of using stencils is that its very easy to control where in your card or layout you want to emboss. So, grab your favorite stencil, a scratch piece of paper, an embossing tool (or back of paint brush or eyelet setter or spoon) and give this a go alongwith me.

If you don't have a light source then place the stencil against a window and use the sun as the light source. The tool used to mark the outline will determine how  sharp or subtle the embossing effect will be. For a softer effect use the back of a spoon, for a sharp image like in the picture above go over the outline a couple of times with an embossing tool.

My card is based on the movie 127 HOURS. Its a true story of a mountain climber's adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah. The grunge style, butterfly, gears and quote are all elements taken from the movie.

I gessoed a piece of Prima Cartographer paper and two plain manila tags before embossing them with Crafters Workshop gears template. Using a blending foam applied various shades of brown, black and yellow distress inks only on the raised embossed areas. This is how the card turned out finally.
