Christmas card in classic colors

Hello everyone,
Riswana here with you today. Christmas spirit is in the air and we have a challenge exactly based on that. Find all the details about Challenge #68 Here. I am sharing a christmas card in classic colors of red, green and gold.

I stencilled the base with distress inks (festive berries, mowed lawn) through wood grain stencil used in a plaid fashion. I drew the bow with Brustro fine liner pens and colored with Zig clean color real brush pens. I went straight with the markers and didn't use water to retain the intensity of the colors.

Used Uniball Gold alcohol marker to draw in the gold details. Added few highlights with uniball signo white gel pen. Finally heat embossed the greeting with Ranger superfine Gold embossing powder.

Hope you liked it. Don't forget to link your creations on our current challenge Here.
Create. Have fun.

Good Morning, its Tanvi once again with my DT post for the current challenge - MAKE A MINI

This mini is hand bound & has chip board covers.
The sentiment on the cover is heat embossed & the butterfly is a stamped embellie I made from shrink plastic. "Memories" is handwritten on a speech bubble wood veneer & sealed with glossy accents.

Here is the spine with some beautiful trim, dangling charms  & another shrinky embellishment.

This is a six page mini & each page has a pocket for a large tag, in addition to I have also added smaller pockets on some pages for additional journaling tags.

Embossing magic- Cards

Hello friends!!! This month's challenge is all about usage of embossing powder in different ways in your projects. There are so many ways in which you can use them, create backgrounds, emboss the image and use watercolors/DI for coloring, emboss resist, over vellum etc.

Click here to read challenge guidelines and here for more about this months challenge.

I have made three cards as inspiration for this challenge. For the first card I took a watercolor paper and heat embossed one of the altenew persian motif stamp using golden EP. Then colored it using DIs Worn lipstick and mowed lawn. I slightly water-colored the panel with DI. Matted it over a matching green card base. Stamped the sentiment with black archival ink on a banner. For final touches added some sequins.

Second card one is a shaker crad.  For this I have heat embossed the same stamp set as used above with white EP, colored with DI's and fussy cut them. Prepared a shaker panel with white CS on a white card base and arranged the embossed flowers on one corner. Added some stickles glitter glue on flowers. The sentiment inside the shaker has been also embossed with mustard color EP. Added some sequins.

And for the final card I have used stamp set lacy scrolls from altenew. Heat embossed one of the stamp from the set several times on a white card base using glittered black EP. Stamped flowers and leaves on a white CS and fussy cut them. Added some shading using color pencils and glued them over the embossed panel using foam dots to add some dimension. stamped sentiment using black archival ink and finished off with some golden sequins.

Mixed media card tutorial

Hello everyone!!!
Neha here, and this time I am sharing with you a mixed media card along with a pictorial. I love doing mixed media and generally I make layouts or canvas using it but for the first time I am doing a card. Here is my card.
The central panel on the card is done with a no. of small hexagons placed over a CS (sprayed with LSG spray) using foam dots. For the base I took a white CS and matted a PP from Prima epiphany collection over it. Added some lace on both sides of Hexagon panel and matted it over pp panel.

Some closeups

Lets see how to make this.
1. Take a piece of CS and splatter different colors from LSG sprays and other paint. Cover all white spaces. Let it dry.

2. After drying use a stencil to trace the shape with a pencil. You can use any stencil. I used here honeycomb stencil.

Now cut the shapes. Cut as many as you need to cover the panel.

3. Distress the edges of hexagonal shapes and a white CS over which you will place them with vintage photo DI.

4. Color the CS with LSG sprays. I used here Glory of the seas gold.

5. Now place the hexagons in a pattern over the CS using foam dots to add dimension.
Add some gold paint using your fingers.

6. Heat emboss some chunky black embossing enamel.

7. Spray some more color, splatters of pink and black paint and add some glass beads from Prima.
Next add some piece of lace on both sides of the above panel.
8. Now take a piece of white CS which will form the card base and mat a pp over it. Glue the hexagonal panel in its center.
 9. Distress the edges of pp with vintage photo DI and soften the look with gesso. Add some gesso over lace also.
10. Embellish the card with net, Prima wire thread, Prima flowers, leaves, wood veneers and charms. Splatter some black paint, on the edges of hexagons and your card is ready.
I am happy the way it came out finally. What do you think. Let me know. Do take part in our current challenge here

Hugs!

Shadow box tutorial

Hello Friends,
Neha here. I think you guys are enjoying water- coloring very much as I can see so many entries for the current challenge. There is still a lot of time left for entering the challenge so take out your watercolors and get started.
Water Colors

Toady I am sharing with you a tutorial on how to make your own shadow boxes using paper. Here I have made a 12"*12" shadow box using a sturdy black CS.

Shadow box

Some close ups

The whole shadow box has been made from scratch and it was very easy too. I have decorated shadow box in a masculine theme as I will be gifting this to my brother on his birthday. I have used Ranger Distress crackle paint all over the edges of shadow box. These days I am really addicted to using it (I am using it in almost each project I am making these days). Thereafter I have rubbed  steam punk gelatos (iced chai and iced coffee) over it.  This gave a cool effect! I also heat embossed on some places with golden embossing enamel. Then decorated it with pattern papers, gears (heat embossed with golden EP), Die- cuts, sentiment (stamped and embossed), wood veneers and chain.

Here I have prepared a pictorial which will demonstrate all the steps from making a simple shadow box to the above one. Its a picture heavy post.
So lets get started.
1. Take a CS (12"* 12") and score at 11-1/2", 11", 10-1/2" and then 10". Repeat this step on all four sides.

 2. Now on one side score at 2-1/2" till the third scored line (as in the pic) and then at 9-1/2" to the third score line. Next, just flip the paper at 90° and do the above process again.
3. Cut out all the four corners.

4. Next cut at 2-1/2 and 9-1/2 scoreline, all the way to the third line. Repeat on the opposite side as well. This will create four flaps

5. Fold all the scorelines to form square shape and then glue down the side without the flaps first. Do it on the sides with flap too and lastly glue down the flaps too. Flaps will hold the edges nice and tight.
5. Decorate as per your choice with PP and embellishments.

This makes a simple shadow box. Now we will see how we can make the one with sections.

1. For making sections in the shadow box, take a CS strip, measure the length in which it fits the shadow box.
Tip: when you measure the length of the CS strip make it a little bit lengthy (by 1/8") so that it fits in exactly and no gap is seen.

2. After cutting the CS strip in desired length, score it at 1", 1-1/2", 2", 2-1/2" and fold them with a bone folder to form a square shape and then glue them down on the shadow box at the desired place s we did in above steps.

This forms the section in the shadow box. You can make as many as you want in the similar way. Just measure the length, cut the strip, score it, fold and attach.

Final part is a 12"* 12" shadow box. Well the process is same as above, but here I took a 12"*12" black CS instead of making a shadow box. Then repeated the above steps of making sections. You can make them in any pattern you want. Just keep in mind that the CS you are using is a sturdy one. You can also make the backing of shadow box with a chipboard sheet to make it a bit more strong.

Here is the pictorial depicting above steps:

Next steps

So guys, I hope this tutorial will be helpful and you guys will give it a try!  Do let me know if there is any confusion and don't forget to take part in our current challenge here!
