These used to be....discarded CDs

Hi this is Juhi here with the last post for September, it also happens to be the last day to participate in this month's challenge so hurry! The details can be found here.
Ever since I got my bottle of Mod Podge from the Lulupu store I have been obsessed with it, I have been hunting for Mod Podge makeover projects all over Pinterest, I revamped an old pair of shoes with it (will share the pics on my blog soon). Incase you would like to know more about Mod Podge check this out. I came across this wonderful discarded CD banner during my quest for Mod Podge projects and I knew I just had to try this out for my little girl.
This is what I made using Mod Podge, hot glue, discarded CDs, some patterned paper and ribbon.

I do not have any before pictures, I forgot to click any but I guess everyone knows what discarded/old CDs look like.
Here's just a short tutorial on how I did it.
First up I stuck pleated ribbon along the circumference of all the CDs using some hot glue.
Then I coated each CD with a thin layer of Mod Podge with a brush and stuck the patterned paper circles on them.
Then I added a layer of Mod Podge on top of the paper and stuck the hand cut alpha on top and then added one more thick layer of Mod Podge to finish it off. Mod Podge dries up to give a nice glossy waterproof finish
I let it dry for about an hour after which I punched holes and threaded the CDs with a ribbon.
I love how this has turned out, will probably use it for Kriti's first birthday party, she can also use it as a name plate for her room once she is older.

Hugs,

Juhi

This used to be... a bottle cap

Hi friends,

This is Snehal here. So I have reached Delhi and this is my first post for Lulupu from Delhi...Boy..... am I excited!....only a little ......slow because still don't have an internet connection.Working on a very very  slow photon.

Today I am going to show you how to make a pendant from a simple bottle cap. Here's what you're going to need.

Picture heavy post.

Tools required to  make a bottle cap embellishment/pendant
Remove the plastic/rubber film from the cap with the help of a sharp tool  and use a hammer and a nail to make a hole in the cap. Punch out a circle out of PP with a one inch circle punch.  Apply glue to both the inside of the cap as well as the punched out circle.

Stick the punched circle to the inside of the bottle cap
Insert the rings through the hole before the glue dries
Decorate the inside of the bottle cap anyway you like.

Punch a circle out of a transparent / OHP sheet and stick it on the bottle cap to save on the glossy accents and then add glossy accents over the OHP circle to cover it completely.

I then used some pie lane beads to add some bling.

Here's how the finished pendant looks.. :)

I made a few more.. take a look.. :)

Easy ...isn't it?
Hope you too try it too.

Thanks for passing by.
Hugs!

This used to be.. a toilet paper roll

Heya people,
How pretty is Nikita's glammed up book cover?!! I am in love with it! I think, we crafters can never have enough boxes to store all our magic tools. Atleast I don't! Every-time I sit down to organize my craft supplies I always feel the need to buy more and more boxes for storage purposes. But when you see such awesome inspirations as our DT member, Nikita, displayed here, it only opens up numerous possibilities to make some of your own storage ideas with the stuff lying around in your house!
Anyway, am Shruti here and am back to show how I transformed this little used up toilet roll

into this cute little owl!

How cute are his eyes?! hehe..
Firstly I painted the tissue roll with white acrylic paint.. I layered it with two coats to give it an opaque look. I later pinched the top and bottom of the roll and glued it together using a strong adhesive. Embellish your little owl however you want.. you may even draw or paint on it if you are not a big fan of punch craft..
I plan to hang it with a little ribbon or a twine in my car.. How cute will that be?! Right now it sits cutely on my center table pooling in all the attention it can! *winks*

Supplies used:
 * Pie lane buttons
* White acrylic paint
* White cardstock
* Pattern paper
* Glue

See you next time!
Love,
Shruti

This used to be... a book cover. Or something like that.

 Hello everyone,

This is Nikita and I am back with another project for you that is in line with this month's challenge. I had a pretty hard time coming up with something, but this is something that has been lying in front of me the whole of last week, so I thought, why not?

Before that, just a small update. The submissions for this month's challenge will close on the 28th. Also, from next month, all submissions for challenges shall close on the 28th of that month. :)

As I was saying, I bought The Fifty Shades trilogy last weekend, and before I get any judgemental glances, let me clear the air by saying that I had no idea what the book was about and I bought it only because the banner at the book store said it was a best seller, not to mention that the synopsis behind the book categorises it as 'Romance' which I later realised, it clearly is NOT. But I am not here to do a book review, I am here to make something out of it.

The books came wrapped in a thick cardboard cover which looks like this. I have pictures with the three books inside it as well as without it.

I wasn't planning on storing the books inside the box kind of thing, so I decided to convert it into something else. So I made a mailbox out of it... Not the kind that we put outside our homes, but something I could keep on my desk to hold envelopes, letters and other documentation.

All I had to do was measure the box and cover it up with pattern paper. Seal the edges with Washi Tape (I just love how versatile those tapes can be.. especially when they can be used to neatly cover the edges in such projects.) Then I added some pearls and used thickers to spell the word "Mail." I then embossed a few envelopes in gold, cut them out and this is how the whole thing turned out! :) And it took a little less than an hour (and even that because I was running between two rooms to catch some TV) to get this done.

Here is how it looks!! :)

Here is the list of supplies I used:

1. Patterned paper - Grace Taylor (Vintage Collection)
2. Pearls - Locally purchased.
3. Stamp Set - Sending my love (Unity Stamps)
4. White gel pen

Other Supplies..

I hope this was inspiring.. Looking forward to see what you guys come up with..

Have a nice Sunday..

Love,
Nikita.. :)

This used to be a... boring phone case

Heya friends,

There are so many creative ways to upcycle things that we throw away on a daily basis. Just the other day I was thinking how bored I was with my current phone case and should replace it with a better one. That is when Lulupu's theme of the month gave me a suppak idea to upcycle my boring old phone case.

And here are my phone case's before and after picture:

This used to be a....glass jar

After some extremely creative and brilliant inspiration from Nikita and Snehal...this is Juhi with an altered glass jar.
I am not going to share a detailed tutorial cause I don't think it needs one, there's no rocket science about the whole thing, I took this glass jar,

removed the logo and simply covered it with washi tape.
Then I went ahead and die-cut some flowers from old paperbacks and packaging,
sprayed them generously with smooch spritz, walnut stain ink and May Mist.
Paper pierced the flowers and added a button for the flower center with some copper wire which I've had since I was a kid! The wire also acts as the stem for the flower. This is what the finished flower looks like.
After playing around with the arrangement of flowers in the vase I finally settled with this...
Hope you like it, and don't forget to link up your altered project here......can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!
