Tutorial: Altered Journal

Hello bloggers !Its Pooja here today.
Happy new year to all the readers of lulupu from me :)
Hope u all are liking our new design team filled with so many talented ladies !

This fortnight we decided to go for Challenge #23 - Create a calendar.
So i decided to alter a journal cover and today i have tutorial on how i did the background.

So lets start !

I started off with this simple mini journal which has a plain hard cover on it.
I do like the pink so i am going to keep some of it showing.

My next step was to add a pattern paper to the cover.
Over which I then used some texture paste with a stencil.
TIP - Notice the puckering ? (well dont worry, it wont show),
But I made the mistake of adding the tacky tape only to the sides of the PP , while i should have added it to the whole paper, or just used some thick white glue.

I then quickly added some glitter on top of the texture paste while it was wet.

Once dry you can dust off the glitter to reveal the pattern !
Thats pretty much how i got my background .

Then I placed the rest of my embellishments and my cover was done !

Here is a closer look at the flowers .
They are all handmade.

The tiny calender you see here is also handwritten.
The image is a Magnolia stamp , and i really enjoyed coloring it !
Hope you liked my project for Challenge #23 - Create a calendar.
and are inspired to join us in the fun !
Waiting to hear your thoughts !
Hugs

New DT Valou going Shabby Chic

Hello Peeps!

Welcome back. Karuna here & as promised we so so excited to have yet another international crafter to join the Lulupu Team all the way from Belgium! When I received Valou's entry for the DT position I was blown away by her work and humble nature. She is amazing with her shabby chic style and fabulous at colouring images. I love the tone of shades she usually works with. Am sure she will bring in a lot of fun and joy with some great projects in the coming months.

Please join me in welcoming Valou with a big heart...... over to her....

Ola!

Valou here, I am very happy and very honored to join the DT of "Lulupu".

It is my first post today, and I am a little put under stress, lolll.

My name is Valérie ALLARD, more known under the pen name valou250809. I live in Belgium just next to the big city of Chaleroi and in 40 kilometers from Brussels.

I have 5 children from 4 to 13 years of age. I have been scrapping since 2006 and my style is the “Shabby Chic Style” but I also know how to create in a vintage style or C&S without any problem. I create a great deal of cards and of projects home decoration and totally enjoy doing it.

Thank you very much!

Now, I am going to present you my project for our new Challenge #23 - Create a
 calendar.

For making this calendar, I used a base of "Chipboard Extra Heavy". I cut it so as to have a 24 cm piece x 17 cms. Then, I painted the surface with white "Gesso" so that my paper adheres well. I used a paper " Inkido " which I used edges with "Old Distresser".

The calendar is a real calendar bought in a hypermarket. Behind every daily page, is a small joke to be told to the children. Small moment of relaxation and day fun, lol.

I used an image " Paper Shelter ". I colored it in the following way:

- Ink "Distress Tattered Rose" and inks "Distress Vintage Photo" for the skin.

- Ink "Distress Tea Dye" and "Distress Vintage Photo" for hair.

- Ink "Distress Worm Lipstick" for the dress, the lips, the cheeks and the flowers in hair.

- Ink "Distress Black Soot" for the jacket and the shoes.

- Ink "Distress Black Soot" very diluted for the tower.
- Glitter Stickels Frosted Lace for wings and underskirt of the dress.

I cut the image with small fine scissors then I stuck it with foam pieces 3-d on a die-cut realized with "Cuttlebug" and a dies " Spellbinders-Nestabilities - Majestic Ovals ". I embossed this die-cut with some powder "Frantage Shabby Pink".

I creates a small decoration of flowers and foliage in the corner and  all the flowers are covered with "Glitter Stickels Icicle".

I hope that my project inspires you.

Thank you for your love and wish you a pleasant day.

She has been a regular participant at Lulupu and we loved her enthusiasm shown to join the team! Please welcome her with a big hug. Over to Shilpa!

Hi I am Shilpa from Bangalore. I am a stay at home mom for a gorgeous 12 yrs old daughter.  I have been dabbling in art and craft ever since i have known. I was attracted towards Card making when I visited UK decade ago, and started making them for family and friends. Couple of years ago I got introduced to Mixed Media and Art Journal, and I am fascinated by it now.  I love to try new styles, new techniques and new products. And making CAS Cards, scrapbook layouts and other mixed media projects is my passion.
I am very happy to be part of Lulupu Design Team now !!

Good Morning to you all  beautiful Crafters!

I've made this Mixed Media Accordion Calendar as inspiration  for this fortnight.

I've used 6 thick Chipboard pieces as a base. Front view shows January to June. And I repeated the same designs on the backside for next six months.

Here are some close up views of each one..

I started with applying the Gesso. When it dried completely, I arranged and adhered various pattern papers. There after I used stamping, stencilling and ink sprays and on some I've also added beautiful lace. I enjoyed distressing the edges.

I hope you are inspired , I can't wait to see what you all will create! So take out your papers, glue, scissors, inks, stamps..and start the fun!
Happy Crafting!!

Lots of love,
Shilpa
