Today, I'll present A Mixed Media Clock Frame. Its Lulupu's 2nd Birthday, So it is about time..beautiful time..so as an artist I saw it as 'Clock' which I made round. I wanted to make something new, something better, something leading to joy and happiness and which I've not tried before for this Gala Event at Lulupu

Let me take you through my thought process for this project.
Starting with alphabets..we have to use L, U, P, T, C
Let's see What I have used here?

L- Lavender (3 shades), Layers, Lasercut wood embellishments, Lindy's Gang Products
U- UTEE
P- Pattern papers, Pearls,
T- Texture paste, Tarnished brass (Distress paint),
C- Charms, Crafters workshop stencils, Chipboard, Caps, Clock die cut, Cord (paper)

I started off with my Gesso and Texture paste. And I tried to add lots more texture with shells, mushroom and gears laser-cut pieces, metal charms, caps, paper flowers, buttons and fillers.I have explained these basic steps with photos in my previous tutorial, here.
I wanted darker shade in the background, so I spritzed Star burst -Silent Night Silver. Let it dry completely. I totally love Lindys and can never have enough of these gorgeous products!
Lindy's spray colours are permanent when they dry. We can create layers with different colours and results will be incredible! If you have not tried, you will surely by the end of this post!! Surprise!

You will find my tiny add-ons here with details.

I've also used Acrylic paints and Distress paints to get the desired effect.

The clock is die cut from card stock, I attached 4 pieces together to get the thickness. It is looking glossy, right? yes I've used Clear UTEE, it is thick heat embossing powder, which gives enamel texture to the surface.
Finally, I embellished the frame with flowers and pearls.

Hope you've got inspired with my Mixed Media Clock.
We are looking forward to your amazing entries to drool over!

And after seeing my posts on using the gorgeous Lindys Stamp Gang Sprays You might be craving for some? So its your lucky day Blogger Friends!
Lulupu Store is offering  a discount of 15% flat when you buy any 3 or more Lindy's Products. Valid until 4th March 2014 mid night

Lots of Love

How To - Love-ly Mini Mixed Media Album

Hello beautiful Crafters !!
Shilpa here, hope you had great weekend!
Today, I would like to present A Love-ly Mini Album with Mixed Media Tutorial as we are still celebrating some love here at Lulupu this fortnight!.
The album has eight pages measuring 8"*6". It is held together with book ring. I tied pink and white satin and organza ribbon bows and charm on it.
(Caution: Picture heavy post)

Your response to my last month's tutorial was overwhelming and am very thankful that you all enjoyed learning. In continuation, this is a slightly advanced segment in our Mixed Media series. Let's begin...

Stage 1: Creating a texture base

Its always important to remember that for most mixed media work it doesn't matter how and what you begin with because you have alot of option to keep changing and updating and adding as you go :)

I've used heavy weight Chipboard and applied the new Sakura Gesso to prime the surface.
Before working on the surface, I used a Heat tool to completely dry the Gesso.
Next step was to add some texture. I started to apply Mod Podge to adhere Doilies and Gauze or anything you fancy. To add some more interest, I took out my Modelling paste which is also available on store now and Crafters Workshop stencils and did some stenciling at random spots on the surface. I dried it carefully with Heat Tool , it is important to keep some distance, as we can end up spoiling the shape of texture, when Heat Tool is very close (it might bubble up a bit).
I like to incorporate flowers and Laser cut wood veneer birds, beads onto my mixed media pieces, which I adhered with hot glue.

Mixed Media is very liberating, it is your art, your creation, it doesn't matter where you put things, just have a fun !!

Stage 2: Adding some colour

Next,I gave entire surface full coat of Gesso and quick zap of  heat tool to ensure its all in place.

I started spraying Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst sprays. I used my heat tool in between all color layers to make sure they don't mix with each other and they blend beautifully.

Here you will see, I've used combination of pink, red and blue sprays. I blended pinks and reds on one side of surface and blues and green on the other.

And this is the final look of the first page of Mini album. Do you like it?

However, our theme of this fortnight challenge is 'Love project' using lots of Pattern Papers. And here another fun begins...

Lulupu has got fantastic new stock of Patterned Papers, don't miss the chance to add them in  your collection. In  Karuna's words, "Can we ever get  enough of pretty papers?" :) ...
I've used American Crafts XOXO full collection and some more papers from Printshop pad for this Mini Album, they are so lovely.
Above image shows  2nd page in the Mini album. It has envelope flap and when we open it , we can see...

three photo mats and journal tag. here are some more pictures..

let's see the third page...

I've made red photo mat for photo and green journal tag flap on the right to write about that particular photo. The flap is decorated with beautiful Bits die cut pieces came along with XOXO collection.
And when we open the fold...

some more photo mats and journaling tags.

Next two pages look something like this...

Here is another surprise...

look what we find inside, when we untie the ribbon...

7th page has large photo mat which can be pulled out with with flower tab. And aren't  that XOXO letters- bold and beautiful?

This is a last page of Mini Album.

I've also used We are Memory Keepers Stub/ Deco/Round corner chompers to get some fab corners for each page, photo mats and journal tags. Its' a must have for every crafter!
Cute little Memento inks are convenient to color and distress edges which also filled the color gaps on the album.

Hope you enjoyed  the tutorial and got motivated  to make a Mini Album for your loved ones..it can be for your spouse, partner, parents, friends or for daughters!

Lulupu Challenge #25  Oh So Love-ly

Shilpa
