Alphabet projects - Tips and tricks

Hello everyone,
Riswana here with you today. It feels so good to be blogging after my short crafty break.! I was way too excited when Karuna offered a whooping 1000 INR voucher to shop at Lulupu, the craft lounge !! Of course I couldn't stop there and added my own pile of wishlist goodies on top of it.. and here's my awesomee haul..

I can't wait to work with them and will be sharing the project in my next post. Stay tuned .!

Today I'll be sharing few projects based on Alphabets.. I am always fascinated by them and hoard a big stash of craft supplies based on alphabets, be it stamps, stickers and so on. They are really versatile and I absolutely love that fact. So here we go..

1.Chipboard Alphabets
Here's a personalised birthday card with the bold Maya Road chipboard alphas in the focus..

I used Distress inks and gelatos for creating the background on a Neenah solar white CS
I drew the animals with Brusrtro fine liner pens (they are waterproof) and colored with Zig CCRB pens.

The chipboards were covered with gesso, heat embosssed with whit EP and coated with glass bead glitter gel for added sparkle and texture.
The sentiment is from Mudra's Let's Party stampset, white embossed on a red CS and made into a banner.

I made the card for a sweet Kid's birthday with the party theme being Noah's ark.! i added some baker's twine to go with the sea theme and finally added some sequins to finish off the card.

2.Alphabet stamps
I can never get enough of alphabet stamps. I use them for adding my own quotes in art journal pages, sentiments on cards and what not. This time I've made a DIY personalised quote frame with alphabet stamps on the focus. This is my first try and I love the results.

I cut out a Chipboard frame to the required size and coated it heavily with gesso,
I added Texture paste through Tim Holtz flourishes stencil.
I sprayed on some Dylusions in the colors of Vibrant turquoise and Crushed grape.
After it dried, added some inka gold and gesso to bring out the relief areas.

For the quote, I used a variety of alphabet stamps in different fonts and sizes. Heat embossed few words with Purple and Gold EP. Added some flourishes with Mudra's Fancy flourishes stamp sent and Versafine ink in the color of mint.
The frame is good to go to be mounted on the wall or displayed on a table.! With Alphabet stamps, the possibilities are truly endless..!!

3.Doodled Alphabets
If you are a fan of hand drawn elements, again a simple sentiment can be the main focus of your card.!

I just doodled around the alpbhets in a plump sort of way :) I find this font to be really cute.!! Filled in with bright vibrant colors to make the sentiment stand out.
Background is created by using distress inks and doodled upon random physics elements with Uniball signo white gel pen.

I hope you found this post helpful and got some new ideas to try out your own alphabet projects.!
And yes, our December challenge is here with a cool holiday theme. Check out the details Here and do link your projects.!

Sparkle & Shine - Cards

Good Morning!

This is Tanvi & I have three cards with stencilled background  to share today. I have used different medium to add sparkle to these - Inkagold & sequins, glimmer mist & glitter paper.

For the first card I created the background with texture paste on mistable paper.

Next I misted Tattered angels black to make the card base black.

Let it dry & then buffed Inkagold over the surface. Trimmed it to make my card. The sentiment is heat embossed in gold & the sequins add the extra 'Wow' !

For the second card made similarly I used glimmer mist (jack frost) for the subtle shimmer.

And finally in the last one, glitter paper strips on the edges just make the ombre blue background pop! Used chalk colors for the background & the butterfly was heat embossed on vellum & die cut with a coordinating die.

The current challenge is - Sparkle & Shine & you still have a few days to link your entry. You can read more about the Sparkle and Shine challenge here

Sparkle and Shine - journal book page

Hello friends,

Hope you've all had a great start to this week. 25 gorgeous entries this month, there is time for you to add another if you want. You can read more about the Sparkle and Shine challenge here.

Here is my contribution to your daily dose of art inspiration - another special memory recorded in an altered book journal. Memory keeping isn't always about photographs (at least for me), its about documenting those little things that bring me joy everyday. My page today is about something I learned from my little boy!

The background was prepared by using gesso and a tiny bit of paint. Paper layering on both pages have been made using the gorgeous Maggie Holmes Open Book paper and ephemera. There are so many pretty patterns and text, I'm in love with this range and just can't seem to stop creating with it. Finally, to finish some studio calico sequins have been added between the layers. Easy isn't it.

Wont you join us this month with a sparkling creation of your own?

Sparkle and Shine - CAS cards

Hello Everyone!!!

This is Manu here and I hope that this month is giving you all the more reasons to sparkle and shine!! Well, yes, this months its all about blingy and sparkly projects!!

Checkout the guidelines and more about this months theme here

Here's my take on the challenge and yes, I have make 2 new cards for this challenge!!
Lets check out what do I have in my kitty today

I have made two very simple cards and I have been trying my hands at CAS cards from sometime and Lulupu's projects are giving me a perfect opportunity to try these out!!!

I am always a go for the stripes pattern and when I opened up my DT kit from lulupu this time, I knew I had to use this stripe pattern paper, they make such a striking backgrounds!!!

There's a tip used in this cards which I had learnt while I was browsing the internet sometime back! I do not remember where exactly, but since I was working on a couple of projects that involved glitter alphabets, it was useful for me. Since, I was working with glitter Foam sheets and with time and usage, the glitter fells off the projects, using Glossy Accents or Mod Podge Dimensional magic works wonders and will never let the glitter fell off!! And that was one quite useful tip for me!!!

My other card is also a CAS card and you must have had guessed by now that I'm totally in love with the Altenew stamps!!! This stamp set is known as persian motifs and is such an adorable one!

After stamping the motif, I coloured it off using watercolors and then added glitter using wink of Stells, GOLD glitter pen along the edges! This gives a very subtle shine to your projects when you want then to shine ,yet being very sober in doing so.

I hope you all liked my cards and do not forget to join us in our this months challenge here. Do leave me some love if you liked these pretties!!

Happy Crafting!

Sparkle and Shine - Coffee Cards

Hello mateys,

How has the week been progressing for you? Its getting warmer here in Sydney, spring is in the air and in my mood. This month Lulupu's challenge for you is to create a project with
There are so many products that you can use to add some shine to your projects - the good old rhinestone, sugar dots, more trendy sequins, glitter. Don't forget Heidi Swap colour shine mists, ranger perfect pearls, wink of Stella..... the list goes on.

Today I want to share 3 cards with you all, mixed media style of course. All of them are made with Prima Coffee Break papers, wood embellishments, stamps and medium.

The background was prepared using strips of torn paper, gesso, a bit of lace, stencilling using the prima bubble stencil and finally a sticker from the same collection. Watercolours were added after that and finally when everything was dry, mix glass glitter with gel medium and apply. Gel medium dries clear, meaning you can see the paint and layers underneath giving a very interesting effect.

For this card, start by applying 3d gel through prima stencil, before the gel dries, sprinkle glitter over it. You can combine two or more glitters too for more depth. Allow to dry completely, else the glitter will stick to your fingers and come off. Places where the glitter didn't stick, the 3d gel medium gives a see through embossed kind of effect.
My final card is very simple. Ive used the traditional rhinestone to add colour to an otherwise coffee coloured card.
The Lulupu store is open again and brimming with new supplies. Have a browse through and you may get more ideas of products that sparkle and shine to use in you creation.

My interpretation for this months challenge is Cards.
I'm love making cards these days and Lulupu's challenges gives me another bang on motivation to make something which is out of my forte!! None the less I love doing these!!

I have made 3 cards, all of which incorporate the challenge theme in a different way!

There's one among these cards which is inspired by an awesome card maker which I'll let you know shortly! It has my own little twist inside!

I recently owned this awesome Vintage Roses Altenew stamp and was so very eager to try this one out!!! Totally loved the layering process of this set!! Well, the flowers here are my very first try and I def need to improve on the layering process, but since this was my first try, I had to have the card with these pretties! This card has an embossed sentiment in gold and I have added some sequins to go along with the theme!

Here's a closer look at the card!!!

I totally love the simplicity in this card and love the sentiment, This pretty one is inspired by an awesome card maker, if you follow Kristina Werner, you'll be awestruck by her cards!! I added my own element(glitter) which makes this card very cute!!!

Here's a view of both the cards!! I love these ones!!

My last card is a very simple shaker one, I just die cutted the Pattern paper with a scallop die and added lots of flower shaped sequins inside to do that shake-shake part!!!

and yes, a glittered foam die cut makes it all the more lovable!!!

I hope you all liked my cards and do watch out this space all month long to be amazed by our DT team awesome Sparkle and shine creations!!!
Do link up your entries below and keep smiling and crafting all month long :)

Happy Crafting!
