Washi Tape Home Decor - DIY

Hello friends,

Have you noticed, its raining washi tapes here on the Lulupu blog. We started the month with a stunning vintage scrapbook layout from Jaya, followed by a beautiful memory box by Shilpa and an adorable file folder to store your dies by Hussena.  So have you started making your project for

Challenge #37 -
Anything with Washi
(Click here to read the detailed post on this challenge)

1. Use atleast 3 different washi tapes
2. Incorporate a shape or a ready-made embellishment

My project this time is very different to my usual style - no texture paste, no mists. Couldn't resist a little bit of gesso and stamps while creating the layers though.

I love the Heidi Swapp Dreamy collection - soft colours, pastel shades, easy backgrounds to work with. Match them up with the ephemera pack, sugar dots, wood veneer and your all set to create a stunning project no matter card, layout or off the page.

We celebrated Father's Day this Sunday in Australia and I wanted to make something special to gift my hubby. Plus I've been wanting to make something for the empty walls of my house for a while now, so I altered a white photo collage frame into

It was not only fun, but super easy to create. First, stick 3 different washi atpes at random places on the frame. I've used the 'made with love', 'measured up' and 'golden script' tapes. Next cut some small squares of patter paper from the Heidi Swapp Dreamy paper pad, layer them and chose a focal embellishment or phrase sticker for the top layer. Also, cut two strips of banners for the top right frame. Embellish to your hearts content using sugar dots, the ephemera pack and wood veneer. Finally cut some words out using the silhouette cameo or an exacto knife and your all done!

We are waiting to see your creations linked up here. As always, there is an awesome prize up for grabs - the winner of this challenge gets this Hello Sunshine chipboard stickers

So, what are you waiting for.... dig out those washi tapes from your stash or order some from the Lulupu store and join the washi party with us. From neutral, vintage colours to bright whimsical prints there is a wide variety of washi tapes available on the Lulupu store.

Hugs,

Mini magazine holder and folders!

Hi everyone!
How has everyone been ?
This is Hussena here :)
A new month is upon us and we have a very exciting and fun challenge at Lulupu hosted by our extremely talented  DT member, Jaya which is "Anything goes with 3 or more Washi Tapes". So, I'm here to inspire you with my take on our challenge theme. I'll start by sharing some photographs and then going on to explain what I've made, so here goes :

The mini magazine holder with the folders.
I have made two right now but plan on making more as I definitely will be needing more space to hold my die collection.
I googled for the measurements on how to make a mini magazine holder and there are lot of options out there. I just picked up the one which was easiest to follow. :P
Once I created the base of the magazine holder, I had a lot of fun embellishing it with my favorite Washi tapes and dies.
The pink flower is handmade using Spellbinder's Rose Creations die

The insides of the folder :

The base of these folders is made from the central panel of the cereal box. I cut out the side portion and scored the middle portion into half to create my folder in which I've stored my dies.

The inside of the folder I covered with a plain white paper and the outside with pattern paper and embellished it with few of my favorite Washi's and a little bit of floral arrangement. I also created a pocket on one side of the folder, in which I could store my dies as shown above.
