Word Play Note Cards!!

Hello Crafters!!

It's been a while since I posted here, but I haven't been slacking off. I have been giving my hand some rest. But, I couldn't resist playing along with the Word Play Challenge and I was super excited about it since the time I suggested this theme. So there was no way I wanted to miss this! :) Also, as we have to make CAS cards for this challenge, it only made things easier for me..

And as usual, I got carried away and made FIVE cute little note cards. ;)

When I think of Word Play, I think of Lawn Fawn Stamps. Every Stamp Set has co-ordinating sentiments and images and for this challenge, I used the Love 'n Breakfast Set (I got three cards out of this set), Vintage Rides by The Craft's Meow as well because it had some really cool stamps and another card from the Raccoon2Love Stamp Set by The Stamps of Life.

I won't be typing much because right now, it's a little difficult.. So I'll just show you the cards. As usual, the list of products used for these cards is at the end of the post! :)

Guest Designer - Indira Tanwar

Hello!

Guess who we have as our DT this time? Its Indira!!

Coincidentally had both the Guest Designer from our last DT team this month ; ) First Ujjwal and then Indira!

And the amazing part is Indira is sharing not 1 , not 2 but 3 awesome inspirational cards for Lulupu Challenge#19 - Word Play!

Over to Indira.....

Hi folks! My name is Indira Tanwar and I am an art fanatic. I live in Mumbai (India) with my husband. I am a Knowledge Management professional at an IT MNC. Many of you might know me as a past DT of Lulupu.
I enjoy and admiring all forms of arts and crafts. I like to recycle stuff and make use of the stuff lying around the house. I love to try out new techniques, be it trying new card folds  or new tools, etc. I have learnt a lot from being a part of the blog world and each day I continue to get inspiration from the lovely and talented crafters around me.
And here are my 3 cards to inspire you for this fortnights challenge at Lulupu blog.

I really love making CAS cards but sometimes get drifted away by new tools and techniques. This challenge set by Lulupu team gave me the opportunity to get back to this style and try out some fun CAS cards. Sometimes the problem with CAS cards is that you don't have the right stamps or craft supplies to convert your imagination into art.

I faced this challenge while making these cards. I thought of some sentiments to fit this challenge, and when I looked around, I did not have the required stamps, etc. So I decided to hand draw my cards. A little doodling here and there and you are all set. I got so carried away with the idea that I ended up making 3 cards. I guess that makes enough food for thought for you :)
My cards measure 4x4 inches. I have used distress inks to color them.  I have also used stickles from Lulupu store to add some bling to them.
Happy Crafting and I hope you like my inspiration.
Cheers,
Indira

Have a WHALE of a time...

A super good morning to all you beautiful crafters out there!

I'm here with my inspiration for the current challenge #19 - word play.. This one is so so cute and for once we're doing CAS.. psssst- its not my style, but hey I'm open to trying everything! ;o)

Before I forget, here's a quick reminder about our Share and Win contest on Facebook running until 31st October,2013. All you need to do is click HERE to visit our Facebook Page, like our page and share this picture on your timeline (as public) and then mention"Done" as a comment. Simple! :)

Here is my card

I recently went to mom's place and boy did i have fun! It was just awesome! Hence my sentiment comes from that fun trip of mine!! :)

I had a "Whale" of a time!!

To create the waves I tore up a few pieces of paper at random. Using my chipped sapphire and tumbled glass inks I made the waves at sea! :)

The whale is a memory box die that I've coloured using my koi waterbrush and the chipped sapphire ink. A lil googly eye and the whale was ready :)

The sentiment is hand written :)

Thats all from me today.. Do check out the gorgeous new stuff at lulupu and also for the product reviews coming up soon! :)

Alrighty!

So we mention this time and again, but I guess, it's still not said enough, so I'll say it again. It's really important to read the rules of our challenges. Please click HERE (link is also provided in EVERY challenge announcement post AND on the right sidebar of the blog) and these rules are applicable on ALL challenges, in addition to the challenge specific rules. We still see many entries where the post are made before the challenge is announced or the project is linked to more than 5 challenges and we have to ignore such entries even when some of them could have made it as a winner!

So please, it a request that you go through these rules before you make/link your project to our challenges. We hope you understand our predicament.

So here are few of our favourites which need a special mention for the lovely effort put together!

CAS: You are my light!

Hello!!!

Am Varshitha here with my Inspiration for Word Play Challenge. For this challenge I was literally confused on what to make, thanks for my supporting DT team members who helped me. As I am so much into handmade flowers off late it was tough to make a CAS card now. But finally I decided to put this stamp set to use and make a inked and stamped the card.

So here is my card.

I choose this sentiment stamp "you light up my life" and worked on the card based on the sentiment. I picked a textured yellow CS as a base and the reason I choose this CS is to try out inking in Colored CS.Distress Inking in Colored card stock is so much fun! Would you believe the color I actually used is salty worn lipstick, dried marigold and Mustard Seeds! Yes when you are inking on colored cardstock you don't get the same color, like blue on yellow became green.

I started with stamping the base card with a script stamp. Next I used my stamps with various lamps and clear heat embossed it. then comes the fun part of inking. I planned to abstract sunset coloring, not sure if i achieved it. what do you think? I used a waterbrush to help me blend the colours beautifully.  Lastly i added my sentiment in golden heat embossed over a vellum sheet.

Hope you liked my card. Waiting to see what you create for Word Play Challenge.

Hugs,

Varshitha

WORD PLAY !

Challenge #19 - Qualification Guidelines
{General Guidelines - here}
1. Create a CAS card
  • CAS means Clean and Simple, uncluttered with lots of white space.
  • The card must have one clear focal point
  • Feel free to choose colours, patterns and style and go abstract, fun, elegant or even vintage
  • Minimum but smart embellishments with even few well placed layers are a good idea
2. Play with words in your sentiments.

E.g. 1. Stamp a light bulb or use a lamp die cut - Sentiment goes: "You Brighten My Life"
E.g. 2. Stamp an Ice-cream - Sentiment goes: "You make my heart melt."

Please feel free to use these examples but we would love to see your own versions.

3. We are allowing only Cards for this challenge.

4. Please note that the sentiment and the image or scene on the CAS card should match properly and the word play should be clearly understandable.

Loaded with Gardenias!! + A Tutorial..

Hello!!!

This is Varshitha here.. Hope you all had a great weekend.. Mine was fantastic! I am super excited about the current Lulupu Challenge - #17, Load it Up!!! I love to load up my cards with lots of layers and flowers and still make them CAS cards too.. :P

When coming to floral projects I love handmade flowers and my love for handmade flowers was by seeing Rajni ji's and Erum's work. I am always stunned seeing their work. :) Seeing this inspiring world of crafting I decided to make these awesome Gardenis.I am so very excited to show them here... Being a lazy crafter its one of the easy way to make flowers, instead of pinching and molding each petal, these beauties can be done very easily.. Yes I'm showing you a small tutorial on how to make these Gardenias...

Now about my card ..... I have made a typical floral card. A Floral card is what I always prefer for loved ones, making my own flowers and gifting it as a card gives soo much happiness to me.

Here it is..

Winners of Challenge #17 - Fancy Me!

Good morning ladies!!!

We're here to announce the winners of last fortnight's challenge and as always, I have a few pearls of wisdom to share on behalf of the Design Team before the big reveal. We mention this time and again, but I guess, it's still not said enough, so I'll say it again. It's really important to read the rules of our challenges. As we don't want the challenge post to seem like a rule book, we've accumulated the list of rules and added it to this page HERE (link is also provided in EVERY challenge announcement post AND on the right sidebar of the blog) and these rules are applicable on ALL challenges, in addition to the challenge specific rules; which means you have to link a new entry to our challenges (made and posted on your blog AFTER our challenge was announced,) enter your project to a MAXIMUM of five challenges including ours, etc. And when a gorgeous entry doesn't follow these rules, it breaks our heart to tell them that we cannot accept their entry. :(

So please, it a request that you go through these rules before you make/link your project to our challenges. We hope you understand our predicament.

Phew, now that that's off my chest, let me get started with some fantastic projects that are getting a special mention from our lovely design team.. And here they are, in no particular order...

Heylo People!

Welcome to a brand new challenge at the Lulupu Blog! It's already the last quarter of the year, time really flies!

This fortnight we have a very interesting challenge for you :) But before that we have some updates.

Our dear DT Member Ruthie Lopez is bidding us goodbye, and we are so gonna miss her. Ruthie is a wonderful person and has been amazing during the last few months here with us. We enjoyed her beautiful creations for our monthly/fortnightly challenges all along and we hope you did too. I take this opportunity to wish her well on behalf of the entire team. But just because she won't be posting with us anymore doesn't mean it's a complete bye-bye. You can still see her wonderful work at her blog - My Hobby = My Art.

And with some Goodbyes we have some Hellos too! A big hoot hoot for our new DT Member Pooja Khupse who most of you know through her blog - Lightbox Creative Ideas and her Challenge blog - Beyond Grey Challenges. Let's get to know her a bit more what say?

Over to Pooja... :)
