Smackin Acetate Technique - Make a Tag Tutorial

Heya crafters,
Before anything else, I hope you have checked out our June Challenge. Do make sure you check out all the details and enter to win a fabulous prize!

I have for you today a fun and a super easy technique. Its called the Smackin Acetate technique.
Smackin Acetate is a super easy and fun technique. It is a great technique to create colorful background that works exceptionally well for silhouette stamps. This technique is usually done using a piece of acetate that you can purchase from your regular stationary store. However, there is no need to run out and purchase acetate when there are plenty of other options in your home right now. You can use the plastic sheet that usually stamps come covered with, paper cutting mat or your 6x6 acrylic block, like I did.
TUTORIAL
Step 1
You will need markers, spray bottle with water and an acrylic block

Step 2

Now randomly scribble with the markers on your acrylic block. I chose shades of blue to begin with. Make sure you use the smooth side of the block.

Step 3

Now use your mister to mist the surface. What I do after that is use my finger to gently rub on the surface after I've misted it with water so that it doesnt leave any harsh lines on my card stock.

Step 4

Now place your card stock on the block like shown in the image and gently rub your fingers on it to make sure the color is evenly spread on the paper.

Step 5
Once the paper dries this is how your paper wil look like! :) But I want my background to be more colorful.

Step 6

I chose shades of green for my second base of colors.
Step 7
I repeated the same steps as shown above. I also went ahead and added few shades of yellow later.
Step 8
Now once the card stock is all dried up I stamped my favorite tag image onto it. This stamp is from the Happy Thoughts - CPM 053 stamp set. Its one of my favorite stamps!!

Step 9
I cut the image out.
Step 10

Now stamp the silhouette image onto your tag. I've used "Feel The Joy" stamp from the Unity Stamp Co.
Step 11
I also stamped and cut out the little flowers from the same stamp set

I colored the flowers with orange markers and stuck them on to the tag. The sentiment too is from the Happy Thoughts - CPM 053 stamp set.

And Voila! There you have it.. Wasn't that FUN?!

TIP: Make sure you use a good quality cardstock. This technique looks even better on glossy cardstock
Also, if you dont wanna use markers, try the same technique with distress inks! They work awesome too!!
