Joyful - Stamped Background

Hello Crafters,

Today, I have something for you that's absolutely simple to make and has been made using just stamps and ink (okay, there's acrylic blocks, adhesive and scissors involved too, but you get the point) :P Can you believe it? No patterned paper, no cuttlebug and dies, no embellishments... just STAMPS and INK!!

Since we're hosting a stamping challenge this month (you can check the details of the challenge here. Just so you know, you can enter the challenge up till the end of this month and there is a fabulous prize up for grabs.. so don't miss this!) I thought why not go bananas with stamping, and I did just that. But, before we move on to the card and details about how I made the card, I have something else to share with you - my DT kit! :)

Here are pictures of the stuff I got from Lulupu..

I used the stamp set that I got in my kit to create today's card. The kit did not have only stamps and inks.. There were loads of PPs and embellishments too.

Coming back to the card I made, I decided to give Snehal's Rock 'n Roll technique a try. I created a background using the various butterfly stamps in the stamp sets stamping them haphazardly in different colours. I used Rock 'n Roll on the solid butterflies. For the outline stamp of the butterfly, I first stamped it on the card stock, then stamped it on another piece of card stock, coloured it using distress inks and paper-pieced it on to the card, and ta-da... DONE! Take a look!

I also realised that the dewdrop ink pads are best for Rock 'n Roll since they have the pointed tip that can help make very small impressions on the already inked stamp without covering the whole stamp with the darker ink. You can see how well this has turned out!

Also, I used the Micia ink pad for the sentiment and it gave such a crisp image! These ink pads are less expensive compared to other full sized ink pads and since the resulting impression is hardly any different they are great for beginners who have a low budget for stamping supplies while starting out! :)

The colour combinations I used are:
For the solid butterflies (Memento Dye Inks)
1. Lady Bug & Tangelo
2. Cottage Ivy & Pear Tart
3. Dandelion & Cantaloupe
4. Summer Sky & Bahama Blue
5. Angel Pink & Rose Bud
6. Lulu Lavender & Sweet Plum
7. New Sprout & Bamboo Leaves

For the outline stamp (Distress Inks)
1. Mustard Seed, Wild Honey & Barn Door
2. Shabby Shutters, Crushed Olive & Peeled Paint
3. Spun Sugar, Milled Lavendar & Dusty Concord

Here's the complete list of supplies..
1. Card Stock - Creativita Store
2. Stamp Set - Joyful Flutters
4. Other Ink - Memento Dew Drops and Distress Ink
6. Paper Trimmer - Fiskars
7. Scoring Tool - Scor Pal

See you guys next time!

Have a great day!

Love,
Nikita
