Guest Designer - Rupa

Hi there!

Today we would like to welcome Rupa as our Guest Designer at Lulupu. She is amazing with altered art projects and comes up with amazing ways to adorn simple items into beautiful masterpieces! Over to her....

Hello Crafters…

This is Rupa from Bangalore and have the pleasure of being the GD for Lulupu this month!

I have a son and daughter and my entire family has been a great support in me pursuing my passion. I am a self taught artist with no formal training or background in Arts . I have been taking hobby classes from home teaching various forms of paintings and murals for the last 10years and crafting has been my latest love and blogging my “current crush”!!! Yes, am loving it here and must say that my love and passion for art and crafts is what has brought me so far!

Altered projects is what tickles me creatively and I love to do 3D projects with at least a few recycled items in them. Today I am showcasing an altered Layout. My Aunt and Uncle are completing 50yrs of wedded bliss and I thought this layout will be the perfect gift for them and what better platform to showcase it than the current challenge at Lulupu…it was perfect timing!!

I got this plain plastic layout from a local stationery store and my hands have been itching to give it a makeover!

So here it is…I have taken step by step pictures and you need to bear with me for the detailed post!

Firstly, I masked the areas of the photo mats and spray painted the “Cherish” in black and gold. Since it was the golden anniversary, I was keen on having lots of gold and making the layout very elegant, rich and classy. I then adhered a lovely marble print PP with golden hues which I got from auroville onto a mount board and stuck the cut out with foam tabs to give it a raised look. Then started working on the photo mats which has 2 layers of PP from the Recollections stack and then a golden CS, which also have foam tabs in between so that I can insert a few embellishments later.

What I love most is the embellishing and I took nearly 6 hours to complete this one…but who is complaining!

All the flowers that you see are handmade using a combination of dies, lots of inking and heat embossing.

I have kept 2 mats for photographs and I for the sentiment and have decorated them with a lot of blooms.

The sentiment and the anniversary banner are heat embossed and have added a few pearls on them. The “C” and the “h” also have pearls on them and have inserted some heavily inked doilies in between the layers of the photo mats and some punched borders too.

I think this sums up my project and am waiting for some photographs of my aunt and uncle and after fixing that will give a lovely frame.

Hope this inspires you for the Lulupu's Current Challenge #25  and I enjoyed every minute of altering this layout and gives me a lot of creative satisfaction when I see the “before” and “ after “ pictures!

Until then,

Happy Crafting and Recycling.

Hugs.
