Guest Designer for February - Erum Tasneem

Hi there,

How have you been? I am hoping that you are enjoying this month's fun challenge :)

I am here to announce our second Guest Designer of the month. A very talented and creative, Erum Tasneem from Vibgyor Krafts!

Do read on more about our lovely guest designer and see how she tackled this month's challenge with her super fabulous card!! Trust me, you'll be floored... as we were when we saw her take on the theme.. :)

Over to Erum..

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey hi people I am Erum, most of you know me as E.T. and if you don't know me, well hello there!
I have been crafting since quite some time now and I am a card maker but new found love is Journaling! Oh I sooo love to make journals!

I am so honored to be guest designing for Lulupu - The Craft Lounge! Karuna is a friend and I am so proud of how far she has come with this dream of hers (no longer a dream).

The challenge for me is exciting; "Color Splash + innovative ways to use a punch" . I make all sorts of cards and shabby chic being my main love I really wanted to give my colorful card a shabby feel.

To incorporate the "punch" part of the challenge, I used one of the MS border punches and punched on one side of a long strip (length of your strip depends on how many or less ridges you want). A score board is your best friend in making these rosettes! Take a lookey at what I came up with and how the rosette turned out. I can not wait to see what you guys create!
 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Isn't that gorgeous?
Don't forget to leave some love for Erum :) and participate in our Lulupu Challenge#9

Have a great day!

Guest Designer for February - Shivani Singh

Hello there!

Have you entered our challenge yet? Its a fun one :) For all the details about the challenge do check out the Lulupu Challenge#9. Do give it a try!

For the first guest designer of the month we have invited one of the TOP 3 creations winner from our Challenge last month, the very talented, Shivani Singh. :)

Now, lets hop on to see what she has come up with today to inspire us!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi to my friends in the blogland
I am way too excited for my first post as a Guest DT on such a creative and wonderful blog of Lulupu…for me its surely a dream come true!

I am Shivani. I am a Postgraduate in Business management and I have over 7 years of experience
in the corporate world. I am happily married to an IT guy (sounds techi…huh), currently looking
after my own IT venture and enjoying the Motherhood of 2 little angels. They are my soul!! I
love to explore new arts and I thoroughly enjoy dancing on my favorite tracks. As an individual I
have always tried to transform my thoughts into arts…Though I love to do quilling, cards and LO a
lot…apart from this I am also learning mixed media art. Will be showcasing some of my creativity
soon and would always love to have your comments and feedback! Art makes me feel stress-free!!

Now for this month theme, here is something which I want to share with u all J this month
challenge brings in the creativity at its most…SPLASH OF COLORS!! When I thought of it…I thought
of colors complimenting each other in some way or the other. I believe every color has its own
uniqueness and if used cleverly they can say more than words…

This months theme is SPLASH OF COLORS and I worked with 5 colors not from the same family…and
the twist is to use the punches innovatively!

I have made a quotation LO. I love to work on A3 as there is more room for creativity, coordination
and later on, it can be used for journalising/pics. I have divided it in to two parts. For the base
I have used orange glitter sheet and with a balloon and heart punch I have made few flowers
complimenting with leaves and bling.

I have used a beautiful Martha Stewart’s punch to make a borders with different colors…that
reminds me of holi actually (wink*) On the other half, again I have used Martha Stewart’s (punch all
over the page) and it came out beautifully I guess! I love to play with washi/fabric tapes and you can
find soooo many at Lulupu (don’t forget to check)…they really make your projects fab. Sentiments
are computer generated and I have used Tim Holtz Distress Ink with a blending technique to put a
color splash..u can find small floral punches there to…with quilled flowers!

With this, I would like to thank Karuna and Lulupu team for giving me such a wonderful platform to
interact with people like you.

Hugs!

Shivani

How to use your punches innovatively

Heya. It's Indira here with a very bright and cheery forest theme card. It is a cascading card and I have used a whole lot of punches with a twist. Have a look.

I have made a tag to write the message on as well.

This tag can be placed in the pocket behind the card.

These are the punches that I have used directly or indirectly (meaning, used the punch negatives) in this card.

I also have some How-to's to show you how to make best use of your punches.

Thanks for looking. Hope I was able to inspire you enough to play along our current challenge - 'Splash of Colors'.

Lulupu Challenge #9 - Splash of colors

Hello Everyone

Its Ujjwal here. We saw a lot of "Love in the Air" last month with the beautiful red and pink colors used in all your projects and voila we had over 50 entries!

And I Hope this month would be a lot more fun too! With Holi fast approaching next month we thought why not celebrate colors this month?
So the challenge for this month is -

Challenge #9

 "SPLASH OF COLORS "

Use at least 5 different colors in your projects and use your punches creatively!

Points to remember:
- You can use more than 5 colors
- Colors should NOT be from the same family. Light blue and dark blue are from the from the family of color Blue
- All types of projects are welcome as long as we see 5 colors and innovative use of punches.

For my inspiration post today, I went a little overboard with colors (which I was a little skeptical about to start with) but I love how it turned out at the end, don't you?

I am using the gorgeous papers from My Mind's Eye - On the bright side 6X6 paper pad and American Crafts - XOXO 6X6 paper pad.

The flowers area paper pieced and have been made using Micia Stamp - You are Special. The sentiment is from the same set too. I also did a tutorial on how to make different flowers from the same stamp set sometime back. You can check that out HERE.

I love these Doodlebug crushed velvet brads as centers of my flowers :)

I had a very limited collection of punches to use, but you can find a big selection of great punches at lulupu.com. Punches can add lots of interesting patterns and designs by being used innovatively.  Don't use them just as border punches, think out of the box!

I also have a video tutorial on how to create this fun background using your punches and pattern papers. Watch and have fun and if you are inspired in anyway, don't forget to let me know :)

Here is the list of punches that I used:
EK Success Flower Burst Large Edger Punch
EK Success 5/8" circle
EK Success Open Scallop Edger Punch
Fiskers Scallop Sentiment Punch

Supplies from Lulupu
