Happy Wednesday all !!
Shilpa here,
Hope you are enjoying beautiful inspirational tutorials with our Design Team for 'Scrap your scraps' Challenge. Today, we would like you to welcome our Guest Designer Vrinda Bhartiya from An Affair with Crafting.
Vrinda is a new talented  Mixed Media Artist on the horizon. She has some beautiful projects on her blog. She has recently started with decoupage and layouts. We are delighted to have her at Lulupu to showcase a Layout which she made for our current
You have until 31st January to join the fun.
Over to Vrinda.....

Hey Guys… This is Vrinda here.  First of all a big thank you to Karuna and her team for this opportunity !

I am a person who wears a lot of different hats !… By profession I am a Jewelry and Accessory designer .. I also work as a design faculty. Crafting and reading are my two biggest love’s … though crafting seems to be inching to the top as I am getting more and more addicted to all forms of stamping, heat embossing and not to forget mixed media. I love experimenting and trying different things with the supplies that I have.

And now for this month's challenge - 'scrap your scraps'

Everything that I have used in this layout has been leftover from previous projects. And  this is how I started...

I first adhered strips of newspaper to a rescued chipboard and then, arranged my strips of pattern paper on a (previously cut out) heart. I then applied a light coat of Gesso on the newspaper (heat dried it ) and then misted it with Lindy’s starburst sprays.

I used a TCW stencils and modeling paste in the background …  and then again misted it till I achieved the effect that I liked

I then pasted my scrap pattern paper heart ( which I lightly edged with distress ink) and then embellished it with some hearts that were again the negatives from a previously made frame.

I hope my Mixed Media Layout inspires you  to use up your scraps too!… and enter this Amazing challenge.

Lots of love

Vrinda

Using your Scraps | Die-Cut Quilled Roses

Hello!!!

This is Nikita here and after a really really long time, I am posting one of my projects here!! How have you all been??? I am sorry I haven't been visiting your blogs to check your entries for the challenges, but I will do that soon. I have just moved and unpacking and settling in has taken a bit of time and lot of my energy. But enough excuses; let's get back to talking about what I have to share.

For the current challenge, you have to use your scraps. Initially, I was completely lost because it seemed like I had used up all of my good ideas here. (Video here) But then, I thought of something.

I was itching to use these Rose dies from Quilled Creations (destashed by Pratiksha) and what I thought it would be perfect for scrap pieces of PP.

Scrap a Card

A big warm good morning to all your wonderful crafters out there! :)

Winter has certainly set in here, and its sooooo difficult to get out of bed each morning! I wish the lil ones didnt have school! Hehehe.. Anyway..

Thanks for playing along with us at challenge # 23, we shall be announcing the winners soon!!

Here's our new challenge for this fortnight :)

CHALLENGE #24 - Use your Scraps

and here is a card that I made from my left over scraps and embellishments! The idea of this card is that you can make a totally new card from various bits and pieces lying around.

The flowers. laces, paper doilie and the die cuts were all available from previous projects.
The edges of the printed papers are used with "Old Distresser".

Under the image, I stuck of the white lace and the white satin ribbon from my last project.

Then, I added a small bow with a fall of ribbon " pink Organza " and I decorated it with a small pearl heart.

I used a stamp " Stampart ". I colored it with " Distress ink "

- Ink "Distress Tattered Rose" and "Distress Vintage Photo" for the skin.
- Ink "Distress Tea Dye" for hair.
- Ink "Distress Walnut Stain" for shoes.
- Ink "Distress Worm Lipstick" for the dress.
-  Glitter Stickels Froste Lace (socks, lace of the dress, the flower).

I have stamped my image on the available die cut and then embossed it with "Heat Gun", some ink " Versamark " and some powder " Frantage - Shabby Pink ". Then, I stuck it with the foam 3-d.

All the flowers are covered with some touches of "Glitter Stickels".

I added borders "Butterflies" that was lying around to add some glam. I embossed the second with some ink " Versamark " and some powder " Frantage-Enamel - Aged Pink ". I stuck the butterflies only on their body to give of the volume.

Thats all from me for today! :)

We hope you play along :)

Ill be back with a tute on creating gorgeous backgrounds with Lindys! :)

Thank you for all the appreciation of my work, it inspires me to create more! :) Leave us some love :)

How to : Mixed Media Layout Tutorial

Hi All !! Shilpa here, with a Mixed Media Lay out and its tutorial. Hope you are liking our latest Challenge#23 -'Scarp your scraps'  by my very talented colleague Pooja.

New year and we are always tempted to buy new crafty products. I am renowned for not being able to throw the smallest scrap of paper away. There are so many ways to use those beautiful scraps right?  So here is my take on this fortnight challenge theme...

Since I knew I was going to share this project here on the Lulupu blog, I've taken the photos of each step to show what wonders you can make from Scraps!.
Let's begin the fun...

Here you can see how I have arranged the scraps. always do hit and trial before you stick em all.

Then I decided to create a Balloon. I had first cut another piece with Hot Air Balloon shape. Then I cut curved patterns and glued. You can see those all are different and from scraps.

So I started off  with my Chipboard square piece which I use often !! I layered paper strips horizontally  and adhered them with Modge Podge

Here, you will see thin  white layer on the base, that's Gesso. Gesso is a primer which is used in Artwork mostly in painting and mixed media. It gives strength to the base and options to play with lot of colour mediums.

Once the Gesso was dry, I took out my favourite shades of acrylic paints and Gelatos. I smugged the colours on all edges. So this is colour layering.

Next step was to add texture with stamps and stencils. I used Ranger's black Archivel Ink, Adirondak inks, beautiful Kaiserkraft texture stamps, Crafters Workshop stencils and Studio Calico Masks from Lulupu. I used markers and Gelly roll pens too.

I ended up putting a lot. And eventually I wound up with a background I liked!
I did  the same procedure with Balloon.
And when I put together background piece, balloon and words, Voila !

Such fun and easy to make, isn't it ? I hope you enjoyed the tutorial. So, share with us what you make with your leftovers.
Some of you might be new to Mixed Media, if you've any questions about this project, add them below in comments, I'll be happy to answer them.
And entries for 'Scrap your scrap' challenge will end on Jan, 31st.

Our Creat a Calendar Challenge is still open till 20th Jan, so you've time to make one and win Rs.500 Gift Voucher from Lulupu Store.

Happy crafting friends !!

Lulupu Challenge #15 - Weather or not..

Hola crafters..

Nikita here and I am going to reveal a brand new challenge. On second thoughts, the post title does much of the revealing even before I begin typing (rather, you begin reading.) We have got to do something about that :P

Anyhoo, this month we want you to create magic on your projects. Notice how we said projects and not cards?? That means you can create anything you want!!!! As long as....

Challenge #15 - Qualification Guidelines
{General Guidelines here}

1. Create a card, layout, altered project, tag, 3D project... absolutely anything, that depicts the weather
It may be the weather you are currently experiencing or you could choose to show Summer, Spring, Winter, Autumn, or the Rains, on your project. You could also create a view of some place like the beach or the mountainside with a sparkling river and boats on them or a clear starry summer sky. {Enough ideas from me. I need to shut up!)

2. However, the project must show a scene and not just one element of the weather
For example, one snowflake on your project, will not equal a winter scene. Similarly, one umbrella, will not equal a rainy scene. Paint a picture for us (so to speak).. think of your project as a canvas and go crazy.

3. (This one is the most important one) If in doubt, check with us!! :P
It breaks our heart to see beautiful projects that don't fit the challenge theme. So if you are confused about this, leave us a comment here or write to us at hello@lulupu.com with your questions before you start work and one of us will get in touch with you to help you out. Simple! :)

And guess what the winner is going to be able to lay their hands on???
THIS!!!
Rather, THESE!!! {Silently drools... :P}
If I could have played along, for this, I really would.

Fun with Stamping !!

Good Morning Beautiful Crafters!

How are you all doing?  It's a new month with a new Challenge here at Lulupu which is all about stamping. I personally love stamping. It is so much fun and one of my favorite things when it comes to crafting as it gives altogether a new definition to your piece of work. You can use stamps everywhere - whether it is cards, scrapbooks, tags, bookmarks, mix media; the list goes on.

A Scrapbook Layout from Scraps !!

Good Morning beautiful Crafters !!

Hope you all doing good and enjoying the month here at Lulupu with lots of amazing inspirations from our fabulous design team. Since our Design team this month  is focusing on " Maximizing Pattern Paper", So here I am with my Inspiration post focusing on two techniques - " Paper scraps and punches/die cuts . Its an self explanatory post ! , lets get started :)

Okay !! I want to make one thing clear, I am not at all a scrapbook gal . This is perhaps my third layout so far. So please be kind :)

Here is my Layout have a look.

What do you think ? A layout which is super easy to do and quick too. All you need is your Pattern paper  scraps and few punches . I have a quick pictorial here sharing the details how I did my Layout.

Material Required -
Tools and pattern paper scrap !!
You can find the link to the products at the bottom of the post . I have used all the scraps so far I have from my kit . Few were my all time favorite - papers from Tigerliliy paper pad , & Polka dotted pattern paper from Prima Zypher.

Background
For background I have taken a plain white card stock measuring 12x12 . I have added two layers of colors since it was looking dull in my first attempt . You can take any color you want .I cannot do anything until and unless I use Distress Inks- All time favorite.

How to make these cute little clouds

I have first drawn the clouds roughly you need not be to perfect for this :P and fussy cut . Secondly , I have pasted these strings using washi tape and thirdly pasted these cute little hearts over the strings.

Now there you can see the oval punch . I have used the double sided pattern paper to make banner , and trees .

Using the Oval shape punch

Tree's !!

Sweet banner is a chip board die cut perfect to go with this layout . I have pasted the oval scraps next to the picture to make them look like mini tabs , I find them really cute and adorable . And Lastly I have used the scraps strips like sun rays spreading the happiness all around .

All in all a cute and vibrant layout all from your scraps .

Hopefully I was able to Inspire you all. If yes , do pick up some fun techniques from the post and enter you project in this month's challenge  hurry !!

Have a Nice day :)
