'Challenge #67- Geometric' Inspirational Cards

Hello people.

Chirali here with the last post of this month, a quick inspirational post for those who missed the challenge or want to enter with some No-time cards.

So here are mine, an easy to make cards:

A hard base card which can be used as a folio too, some layers of patterned papers in different shapes and you are done after adding half pearls, lace and twine.

A similar kinda card with paper rosette as it's main attraction. I have used washi tapes too in this one.

A closeup of the center of both cards. Those flowers are the stickers from my stash and butterflies have been punched with Martha Stewart butterfly punch.

That's it for the day. Waiting for you to enter the challenge with your beautiful creation.

Home decor with scrap Pattern Papers

Hello everyone,

Riswana here. Today I have a home decor project based on November Challenge theme - GEOMETRIC. It's a cards only challenge but I hope you will find the technique interesting. Here's the Paper tile mosaic art!

1. Take a chipboard panel of the desired size. Apply heavy gesso with a palette knife in multiple coats.

2. After it has dried completely, draw a faint outline of the focal point with a pencil, This is a very rough guide to know the placement of colors.

3. Cut scrap pattern papers into random geometric shapes. I've used the Incredible India paper pack scraps which I used for my previous projects.

4. Paste the different pieces at random angles and leaving spaces in between using matte gel medium. This is very helpful as the glue doesn't show after it dries.

5. Apply glossy accents over individual tiles. A precision tip applicator can make the work super easy.!

Here are some close-up shots after it has dried. The gloss is simply gorgeous and the paper pieces look like real tiles .!

I wanted the flower to pop up more. So added some black color inside the flower area.

Finally mounted on a cardboard frame and we are done :)

This technique is versatile and can be used in a variety of projects and also a great way to use up the pattern paper scraps. Hope you liked it.

Do join us in our current challenge and link your cards Here.

C ya all very soon.
Create. Have fun.

Warm wishes- one stamp set, three cards.

Hello everyone!

Today I have three cards to share that I made using a single stamp set and some patterned papers.

Karuna, super generously sent a couple of 'Waffle flower' stamp sets to me last month and I hadn't got a chance to use the cute little 'warm wishes' stamp set till now. I decided to put it to use a couple of days ago and the results as you would see are cute!

For the first card, I first made that cool looking background that I hoped would remind you all of coffee! :) I'm planning to do a small video tutorial to show how I made it, so, I am not explaining about it here. I layered inked panel on a piece of patterned paper and mounted everything on a card base. I heat embossed the images on vellum and adhered it on the panel.

For this card, I did some masking and stamped small floral images on the cup. Coloured the images with zig markers, fussy cut and adhered the coloured image on a piece of vellum and heat embossed the sentiment. To finish it off, I layered the vellum on a pretty patterned paper and assembled on the card base. I also heat embossed the sentiment in red.

For the last card, instead of using a store bought patterned paper, I made my own by randomly stamping the image repeatedly in grey ink. I also stamped an image in black ink on a piece of cardstock, fussy cut it and adhered it on a piece of vellum. Assembled the panels on a kraft colored cardstock.

Simple Techniques of Water Colouring for Beginners

Hello.

Chirali this side with few techniques of water colouring for those who are afraid of using brushes and who are not confident in using water colours or markers (just like me before this post ;)). I hope you enjoy it. Before starting it, I must thank my fellow DT members Sindhu and Rhizwana to inspire me till today with their DT inspirations and I give complete credit to them that today I am posting regarding colouring which is totally out of my syllabus.

So let's start with it:

1. Doodling using markers:

I started using zig markers with free hands by doodling with them only. Trust me, it was so so fun to do this and a complete stress buster. Just start doing it like a kid and you will love it. Mine is not perfect but I loved making it:

I printed a sentiment in the center and then started painting whatever my hand wanted. ;)

And this is final result.

2. Blending of colours with plastic:

This is the simplest way to blend colours. I took a plastic bag, tapped distress inks, added water on it with brush randomly and then put it on a paper. And this is the result in right image.

I did the same thing again to darken it.

And this is the final card. :)

3. Blending of two colours with a brush, randomly:

I always wanted to create a galaxy on paper and this was the best time. I would show you my three attempts on it.

I have used camlin water colours which I bought years ago, finally they got a use. ;) Simply added water in colours and then on paper and started with blending them with brush, randomly, did not worry about washing the brush again and again and here is the result.

Second piece of paper is the result of first attempt. As I was not satisfied, I did not splash white on it and first piece is the second attempt which I liked and went ahead.

Final one.

Now, third one after googling for galaxy image.

Started like this.

And final result. I loved this one and this is going to be my wallpaper for next few days, for sure.

4. Colouring with single colour marker:

Here comes what I am most afraid of and fellow DT members do it excellently. I stamped a rose image on paper and started colouring with zig markers.

First added some water then tapped slightly with red marker and then blended it with brush. This image has black lines which show easily which portion to be kept dark so tried to do it.

Final tag.

5. And last one, blending two different colours with markers:

Trust me, when I got this stamp in my DT pack, I started thinking how to colour it. I tried but failed. But this time, I kept trying and look how it came out.

I added water, then a bit of red marker then blended it keeping darker inside and lighter outside then a bit of second colour that is orange here and blended it with brush.

Final result.

Hope you enjoyed it and do let me know your views and suggestions, if any.

Chirali. :)

Building background with a single stamp

Hi everybody!

Sindhura here and I hope you are all doing good.

Today I have a fun technique to share with you. I love making backgrounds with stamps by stamping them randomly. The outcome always is fun. This time, I decided to make a more symmetric background. I used only one stamp to make it. It does take a bit of time but it is worth it when the recipient is someone special. :)

Here is the completed card. I made a video tutorial where I show you how to make the stamped panel with birds.

Steps to make this card-

1. Stamp the image you want to use on a pice of scrap paper and measure the height of the image. This helps in spacing of the images later.
2. Day a horizontal line at one inch from the top. Take it as a guide line and stamp the images side by side.
3. Next, rotate your cardstock piece 180° and stamp the bird upside down in the middle of the two birds in the top row. Take a scale and draw a line where the tail of the bird ends. Stamp the rest of the birds still you finish filling all the space between birds.
4. Repeat the process until you get to the end of the page.
5. Trim the paper to the size you want and assemble it like you see in the picture.
6. Since the ongoing challenge is 'geometric', I decided that I would add a geometric element other than the rectangles on my card. So I heat embossed the sentiment and die cut a circle around it.

I made a video which makes it easier to understand. You can watch the video here or HERE.

I have two simple cards for you based on the theme..

I used Uniball Posca markers to color inside the Dylusions Shattered stencil. Colored on the blank areas with Hickory smoke distress ink.. Added highlights with Uniball signo white gel pen. Sentiment is from a Inkadinkado coastal stampset..

For this card, I went for my favorite technique.. Doodling on ink smooshed background. Have used picked raspberry and mustard seed distress inks & Brustro fine liner pens..

Hope you liked them. Link your creations based on the theme in the inlinkz below.
Looking forward to see what you come up with.
