To Mum With Love ..... and New DT :)

Hello everyone!

Its Karuna here :) We are having a blast with all the gorgeous mother's day special cards our DT's are preparing for this months Challenge#30 - Feminine Cards. We also got some lovely entries but please note many have not qualified as using a Border Punch and a handmade flower is a part of the challenge. You still have time so please take note!

I also take this oppertunity to bid farewell to Nikita who has been on the DT since we began Lulupu back in March 2012. She has been a part of our journey and has a very special place in our hearts for the fun and interesting concepts brought into the Lulupu challenge blog :) We wish her all the very best for her future endevours and hope to see her back here.

And now we welcome another new DT member to add more fun to our challenge Blog! She is a new crafter but we loved her work so much that we invited her over as a DT at Lulupu. Her Layouts have been our favorite over several challenged before as well! Please welcome the very talented Kripa :). Over to her.....

Thank you very much Karuna. Lulupu has a special place in my scrappy heart as this was the very first challenge I entered through my blog. I've been quite addicted since to their blog and challenges,so no surprise that I'm super thrilled to join their very talented team of designers.

A quick recap of this month's challenge

Lulupu Challenge # 30
Feminine Cards

We have had some really pretty cards from the DT so far and I hope you are playing along too. Here is my inspiration for this challenge

Ive combined two different Prima pattern paper collections and used mostly pink and shades of pink. The blue polka dot PP breaks the pink and offers a bit of contrast. The two Martha Stewart paper punches are fast becoming my favorite. I punched the papers only in a few places to draw attention to the beautiful pattern created by the punches and tore the top layer of PP so the bigger fan punch peeked through. Finally a dab of paint on the background, flowers and wooden bird icon to tie in all the elements.

Here's a handy tip I picked up along the way: Its very difficult to ink the edges specially when you tear and punch and fussy cut. My solution is to use a water brush loaded with distress ink. The best part of using a water brush is that it not only gives you the coverage you want, you can also choose how dark the color should go and can control the inking better.

Would love to hear your thoughts and look forward to see your creations.
