Some sad news and some good news!

Hello Everyone!

What a fabulous month we had. We know we had a tough challenge but we also got to see some talented crafters who bowled us with their awesome imagination and creativity!

Before we move on to November we had some sad news to share......

Our DT member Juhi Khanna has decided to part with us due to her personal commitments and we know we will miss her terribly. Juhi has been a true crafter and inspiration for many of us and we are lucky to have had her on our team at Lulupu. Thank you Juhi for having this short but fun journey with us and we wish you all the very best for future.
Please do not forget to visit Juhi's lovely blog - http://www.juhishandmadecards.com/ and follow her amazing posts as she continues to amaze us all with her work!

But we also have a good news! Yes!.... we have a new DT member on board!  And no cookies for guessing! She is our favorite classy crafter.....

A huge welcome to Ujjwal Goel!!

She does not require an intro for most of us who have known her for years for her sheer talent and cheerful nature and for those who do not know her yet, she has something to share with you all! Over to Ujjwal....

I am a software engineer-turned- stay-at-home-mom to a 4 month old. I am an obsessed crafter and I love experimenting with different techniques, products and ideas. I have been blogging for close to 3 years now and have learned so much along the way.

Stamping is something that fascinated me with its endless possibilities and versatility and it has stayed with me through my other experiments and adventures. Although I love making clean and simple cards, my recent new favorites are mini albums and scrapbooks and I have been quite busy making them for friends, family and happy clients.

I love pretty paper and used to hoard them but I am coming out of the phobia of putting scissors to those beautiful papers and actually putting them to use. Love how they make everything look so pretty :)

I am blessed to be able to stay at home, take care of my baby and do what I love!

Here are some of Ujjwals' awesome work she did like to share with you all.

If you are still drooling at the lovely projects seen here then you have to visit Ujjwal's Blog - http://ujjwal-handmadewithlove.blogspot.in/ and check out her amazing work and leave her some love as well!

Do join us for our November Challenge with a new theme and a new DT member!

My Favourite Four - R4

Hello Crafters!!

This is Nikita here and I am here today my with project for this month's Favourite Four Challenge!!! For this project I picked R4 and that choice presented me with the following elements for my project.

  • Photo
  • Stamping & Colouring (Critters/Human Figures/Objects)
  • Pattern Paper
  • Flowers/Embellishments/Quilling/Felt/Foam
When I saw the list, I knew I had to do something other than a card - a Scrapbook page. What inspired me, was the "Photo" part of the options available. I have made scrapbook pages in the past, but they were very basic because I didn't have pictures, or the content. All I had done was embellish a 12x12 page. So technically, this was my first try.

Another reason why I wanted to do a Scrapbook page was because I am in the process of making a scrapbook for myself. So I thought I'd kill two birds with a stone, or something to that effect.

Without rambling any further, I'll let you have a look at what I've made. I have one thing to say though. I may have made a grammatical mistake in the title of the page, but I am not sure if it in fact is a mistake. You see, I wanted the title of the page to read "You & I" but the thickers that I was using had only lower case letters. So I decided that even though it may be incorrect, it was better to go with "you & me" instead of "you & i" :P

Here are the Four Elements from R4...

1. PHOTO

2. STAMPING & COLOURING

3. PATTERN PAPER

4. EMBELLISHMENTS
(Oh! I have used sooo many of them!!!)
Here, I have used twine and chip board flowers... They flowers are visible clearly in other photos.. :)

Here, I have used thickers and stickers {brackets.} I also managed to do some stitching along the edges of the 12x12 sheet.

Here, I have paper pieced Hearts from PP, used a chipboard button, a banner from PP and made alphabet banners from card stock.
And here it is. The whole layout!! I wanted to do a video for this, but as it was my first time making a Scrapbook layout, I didn't know how long it would take. Also, in retrospect it was a good thing I didn't. Because I changed my mind so many times, that it would be annoying to watch that video.

I had fun making this and I hope you guys liked it...

Here is a list of products used.. :)

My favorite four - R1 (Tutorial)

Hey y'all,

This is Shruti here and we at Lulupu thank you all for all the wonderful comments that you guys keep showering on us. It really keeps us going!!

Did you check our 100 Blog Followers Giveaway post?! If not then do click the link below and participate as One lucky winner will receive a Gift Voucher worth INR 1,000/- with Free Shipping from Lulupu.com !! How cool is that?!
Anyway, as for my card today, I chose Row 1 as my favorite four, ie, Stamping, Distressing & Blending, Stitching and Pattern Paper.Keeping all these four in mind I decided to make a card.

I'll explain the card in detail through a tutorial. So here goes:

TUTORIAL

I have here a grey card stock sized 11x28 cms folded into half, black card stock sized 10x13 cms and a pattern paper sized 6x12 cms

For embossing I used watermark Stamp Pad, stamp, black embossing powder and a heat gun.

This is how the image will look once embossed.

I used Micia's orange color stamp pad that match the pattern paper to distress around the embossed image.

I dipped the edges of the pattern paper in a watermark stamp pad like so.

Later sprinkled black embossing powder on it and heat embossed it using a heat gun.

I love how the distressed edges look..

I then adhered it down to the black card stock,

Now for the stitching part I thought I'd go for a ribbon instead of a twine or thread.

Punch holes half an inch away as I have done in the image below using a crop-a-dile.

Now, stitch criss cross using a ribbon that match the pattern paper.

I also tied a black ribbon in the bottom of the stamped image like shown in the pic below.

I also added a doily punched border below the black ribbon.

I added some more embellishments on the card and voila! my card is ready.

I hope you found the tutorial helpful. :)

Until next time.

Guest DT - Ujjwal Goel: My Favourite Four - D2

Its time for our Guest Designer of the month and guess who do we have here?

Ta da!! We have our very own Ujjwal Goel back up and crafty. Ujjwal was MIA as her little one kept her busy but we are amazed how well she has been able to balance things for herself and been generous to do a Guest design post for Lulupu.com.

So over to Ujjwal!

I’m Ujjwal living in Pune, India. I am a software engineer turned Stay-at-home-mom to a 3 month old.

I have been into card making and crafting since I was a small kid but it got serious when I discovered blogging three years back and started my own blog and there has been no looking back. I have met some very talented people, made wonderful friends and learned a lot.

I love creating and exploring different forms of art but stamping is something that has stayed with me though all my experiments and adventures in crafting. My style of crafting is more towards clean and simple but I love trying out different techniques once in a while. Off late I have been enjoying making mini albums and scrapbooks.

Having a little baby around makes you want to do layouts and make albums. I simply want to preserve every little moment with my daughter and be able to look back later. And that is what brings me to today’s project.

When I was given a choice to pick from a row, column or diagonal from the challenge grid, I promptly picked D2 (Pattern Paper, Paper Piecing, Twine/Ribbon/Lace, Photo). This diagonal had all of my all time favorite things to play with. And here is what I created.

I simply wanted to capture the fact that my little daughter looks pretty in pink at 3 months old J

Here are a couple of shots for a better view at the details

Paper pieced flowers. Paper piecing is a great way to use up pattern paper scraps and turn them into unique embellishments for your projects

A peek at the gorgeous heart trim and journaling.

And here my little corner accent with twine, trim and button.

I had so much fun making this layout and I hope you will feel inspired to try a layout for Lulupu’s current challenge submission. Looking forward to see what you create!

" Hello ladies, This is Avni from http://crativebygene.blogspot.in/ I am SAHM with 2 boys and a dear husband at Bangalore. I feel so honored to be here. Indian craft community is expanding day by day and I feel myself lucky to be a part of it. I started my blog 4 years back and since then the true learning journey has begun. People are so creative and enthusiastic for crafting and that inspires me a lot! When I am not crafting I am running around house after kids, cooking and surfing the blogland. Thank you so much Karuna for giving me this chance to be here.

About my card. I have chosen the diagonal line D1 from the cube and made a circle card.
This makes my favourite 4 as

2. Bling/Glitters
3. Flags
4. Flowers

The damask design is online download and embellishments are local buys.

Thank you."
