3D Birdhouse

Hello Everyone!!!

Manu here today with my take on the current challenge. This challenge is all about using your dies in a little different manner than what they are normally used for!!! It's all about thinking out of the box and making a good use of your dies to make something 3D with them. It can be anything, a box, a bag, frames, houses.. just about anything, as long as it's made with dies and have the 3D element associated with it. It's quite simple and fun.. right!!
However, we do not see a lot of participation this time, So bring out your dies and think a little beyond the horizon and make something nice and 3D with your dies and lets see what have I made with my dies!

I have made a nice little birdhouse using my Spellbinders classic square Large die. I used multiple diecuts to make my base. Since I wanted a little bigger birdhouse, each side of the square base has been made using multiple diecuts and then formed into a sqaure shape. This has also helped me in giving a added strength to the base structure. Once the square base is done, more layering of an additional cardstock followed by pattern paper is done.

I loved the little quote of Happiness stamped on the top!!! This sure is someones Happy place!!

Here's a little closer look of the birdie and the flowers cluster!

I have always loved this bird stamp!! and ohh yes, I like that little Butterfly on the top too!

I also added these cute little wooden shaped pillars from my stash and painted them red to go along with the color combination.

I hope this has inspired you in some way and you might now be tempted to make something with the dies. I had a blast making this one and I hope that you all liked it too!!! Do drop me a comment on how did you find my little birdhouse to be.
So get those dies out and get inspired!!!

3D Baby Pram using Dies

Hello Dear Readers,

Hope you are enjoying the current challenge and the lovely creations the Design Team is whipping out every week. Hope you all are inspired to re-look into your die collections and create something wonderful. Do not forget to link your creations for the chance win a beautiful die from Memory Box

Today I will be sharing a tutorial for a cute little baby pram I made (Warning: Loads of step by step pictures). This can be used as a lovely gift for a new mommy. For all the supplies used for this project, refer to the links below

Steps:

1. Using a doily die (any circular die would do), I created 2 doilies which were then cut in half i.e. semicircles. This was used as the body of the pram/cradle.

2. The semicircles were placed apart with the help of a rectangular strip of paper cut according to the gap needed in the pram. This piece was stuck to the semicircle. Tip:  To easily adhere the rectangular strip, just score 1/4th of an inch on both the side, and fold, this portion can be used to stick to the insides of the semi circle.

3. To create the base, another piece of the rectangular strip with the same width as the first one should be used. The length of this strip should be a bit more, since its curved into a U shape to form the base. This piece can be stuck to the top portion. Once again scoring the strip helps to create good gridline to adhere the base.

4. To make the wheels, I simply cut out 4 circles and attached to the semicircles.

5. To create the top part of the pram, I used a punch to give some interest to long strips of paper (approximately 5 strips). These were then attached to the body with the help of brads, which allows movement of the strips as per your liking. I created the shelter by adjusting the strips. The last strip was added as a pulley on the other side.

6. To decorate the pram, I used some flowers and pearl embellishments from my stash. I also added some candies in the pram to fill it with some sweetness

Hope you enjoyed going through the step by step tutorial and the pictures! Go ahead and explore your own collection to see what goodness you can create! We would love to see them.
All the best for this challenge!

Thanks for stopping by!

Love,

Luminary using dies

Hello Friends!!!
Neha here today with my inspiration post for the current challenge. This time the challenge is all about using cutting dies to create 3D projects (anything goes).

Challenge # 45 3D projects - Use cutting Dies

You can use electronic dies cutting machines to make anything like a box, frame, house etc., but using templates will not qualify.

Here is what I created, It's a Luminary made by using Spellbiners Nestabilities Majestic elements marvelous squares die as the base. I have also used Sizzix weathered clock die and Die versions trellis whispers die here.

 Front side

Luminary

This pattern is present on all the three sides.

Here is the pic with a tea light inside it. It looks awesome, isn't it?

Another view

On a piece of white CS I have used the spellbinder die four times to cut the window for luminary and then scored   in between them. This formed the base for luminary. Then colored the CS using DI fired brick and did some stamping using black archival ink. Followed by adding some texture using Prima white sand and a medium coat of clear rock candy crackle paint.Added other die cuts and vellum was then glued on the inner side of the windows. After folding the score lines you get a box like shape. Finally comes the embellishment part. Added punched edges on top, flowers, wood veneers, charms, metal corners, pollen fillers, pearls and liquid pearls (gold). And that's it, My luminary was ready.

I really had fun making it. Hope You like it too!! Let me know your views. Do not forget to enter the challenge here as we have a Memory Box Bali Corner Memory Die for you to win this time.

3D Cupcake Holder using Silhouette Cameo

Hello friends,

Happy Monday to you all. I hope you found some crafting time this weekend to join us in

Lulupu Challenge #45

3D with Dies (or a die cutting machine)
Click here for all the details and rules

Tanvi Shah presented us with a beautiful shadow box + tutorial last week. If you haven't already started making your submission, I hope my project inspires you to try.

This project is another first attempt for me - traditional scrapbooking technique - paper piecing and layering. No inks, or stamps just paper and glue. Also, my first big project using the Silhouette Cameo. Here is a close up, any guesses?

Its a carousel which also doubles up as a cupcake holder. All papers have been cut using the Silhouette cameo -  plain, textured, glitter and pearl cardstock . Its definitely a dream machine, I could never have created this project without this die cutting machine. The cut file for the carousel is from www.svgcuts.com

There is place for 8 cupcakes and the horses are meant to be cupcake toppers. If you look closely, you can see that the horses have been temporarily fixed to the cupcake wrappers using washi tape. They can easily be removed later and inserted into the cupcake.
The top of the carousel can also be removed, there is enough place for a card and a light weight gift.

The biggest challenge I faced was what glue to use. After some trial and error, I used a combination of dry and wet glues. Just curious - what glue and brand do you use for projects like this?

I hope this post made your Monday a little more inspired
So, dust those dies or cutting machines, take a leap of faith like I did and share your creation here with us.
